Concept
Teledahn Island is a private Minecraft server I run to have fun with my friends, to encourage and showcase organic architecture and design in a semi-permanent way.
The island is named for the Myst Online/Uru age of Teledahn, a mushroom world with a subtle, alien beauty.

When Mojang implemented ravines, giant mushrooms, and mycellium, I decided to experiment with it. As it turns out, the seed I chose just happened to be pretty spectacular, with all three of these elements and much more.

Community
We’re a friendly, liberal bunch, and are easy to get along with. We like the community chatty, close, and relatively small. If you have any problems or need help, please don’t hesitate to ask!
New Residents
There are four guest rooms near the spawn point, and a series of community chests in the commons. Please feel free to use them until you are situated.
Administrators
The administrators are a tightly-knit group of real-life friends. We have a history of running communities and all share similar values.
- 200found: I’m the more outspoken, political, opinionated one of the bunch. I’m a bit of a troublemaker (especially when it comes to lava), but a compassionate person.
Rules
I don’t like a lot of rules, but there are a few that must be abided by:
- Build in an organic way (think Frank Lloyd Wright’s Fallingwater), such that your creations aren’t too obnoxious. The “natural” beauty of Minecraft is something I’d like to somewhat preserve. Another way to say this is that your builds should, for the most part, integrate with the surrounding biome. This means, no penis towers, and no pixel art. For example, I tend to like to build treehouses, and underwater homes.
- Don’t be an asshole.
- If you break something, fix it or leave a sign with your contact info.
Recommended Practices
- Show your builds off! Take screenshots or videos and send them to me so I can make a virtual tour of sorts.
- Say hello! Part of the fun of Multiplayer mode is talking with other people, collaborating, and throwing ideas around.
- Light your man-made structures on the island—otherwise, mobs may spawn.
- If you build in areas that are already manicured, ask permission and make it fit. I highly recommend building in the Ravine (there are several), on Spooky Mountain, underwater, the plains of the island, or on the mainland.
- There are a lot of trees on the islands to the north.
- Label what you’re up to and comment below.
Server Information aka “How do I connect?”
The server is a whitelisted server, and those wanting access will need to fill out a brief questionnaire (pending). It helps if you have a recommendation from another user, but that’s not required.
Backups
Nightly backups are always available for download (pending), so that you may take your creations with you, if you chose to leave the community.
In theory, this can allow for offline mineral mapping, but that’s a dick move and users caught doing it will be punished and mocked.
Specifics
The server settings I use are:
- Render distance is 6, to encourage fog (8 is “Far”). This may change.
- Difficulty is “Normal”, though the island itself is Peaceful due to the biome.
- Seed is “4”.
- PvP is enabled because I like party fumbles.
